YAY or NAY: Mini Backpacks?

PurseBop’s followed the ‘mini-madness’ trend since the very beginning. (Read: The Complete Guide to Mini Bag Madness) Mini bags aren’t just adorable, but they can be great assets to any comprehensive collection. But the idea of a mini backpack is, on its face, confusing. We’re all probably used to carrying a backpack to lug around books, our laptops, and other large items. So, how can a tiny backpack possibly serve you?

It seems the trend is taking off because backpacks are becoming stylish again. They’re functional for the same reasons a mini is.  A backpack used as a handbag can add a casual, athletic, or street-style vibe to any outfit. Backpacks, by nature, are utilitarian. They fully zip and secure your items, and often have multiple pockets for added organization. Mini backpacks are great go-to options if you want something practical. Even though you have to downsize on space, you still have all benefits of a traditional backpack when it comes to ease of use. Some mini backpacks even come with straps for crossbody wear if you prefer your backpack to wear more like a handbag.

This year, the Louis Vuitton Palm Springs mini backpack and MCM Mini Backpack have been particularly popular. But many other brands are putting out mini wonders you should take a look at too! Check them out below…

  • Mini backpacks are cute! I have one on my dream list. I do have a slight addiction to full-sized leather backpacks. They’re comfortable and I are perfect for traveling. I’ve never been a tote girl.

  • I’m too old for a backpack, but never liked them. Didn’t use them in college or law school. Cute for kids or young adults IMHO.
