10 Louis Vuitton Bags That Should Be On Your Radar

The 2021 Edition

More than just Louis Vuitton’s men’s artistic director, the late Virgil Abloh was an inspiration for many in and out of the fashion industry.  The bags in his male-oriented collections often appealed to the feminine side as well. Abloh will be missed by all.

An enduring sign of status and style, Louis Vuitton bags remain a staple of any fashion fanatic’s collection. First (technically) came the Alma in 1925 as a custom design made for none other than Coco Chanel, then came the Speedy in 1930, shortly followed by the Noé in 1932. And for almost a century since, Louis Vuitton has continued to launch fan favorite designs which dominate the world of luxury handbags.

In the past few seasons, we’ve seen the famed luxury fashion house shake up its signature style codes more than ever. An infusion of new colors, styles and materials has left us with a fresh cohort of LV bags to swoon over. Through its designs, Louis Vuitton has managed to interpret contemporary shapes and trends quite like any other house.

Here, we take a look at some of the designer’s hottest offerings.

Maxi Multi Pochette Accessoires

Owing to the success of LV’s cult favorite, the Multi Pochette Accessoires, how could the house not release a series of new takes on the popular design?! The Maxi Multi Pochette Accessoires is made from eco-responsible Econyl regenerated nylon. This gives the bag an on-trend soft padded finish, akin to the likes of the Coach Pillow Tabby and YSL Loulou Puffer bags. The nylon exterior is embossed with giant Monogram motifs and is finished with Monogram canvas tabs.

The bag boasts all the practicality of the original Multi Pochette Accessoires and is made up of the same three items which are all detachable – Pochette Accessoires, Mini Pochette Accessoires and Round Coin Purse.

Troca

As one of the breakout stars of the Fall/Winter 2021 runway, how could we miss the new Troca bag from this list?! The Troca embodies LV’s design spirit perhaps better than any other bag on this list. Made from embroidered Damier quilt lambskin leather, the design introduces one of Vuitton’s most famed prints, the Damier, in giant form. The new large interpretation of the Damier sort of reminds us of Bottega Veneta’s famed Intrecciato Weave (which is certainly not a bad thing)

The bag is also an ode to the house’s trunk making origins due to its rectangular shape and S-lock closure. The new Troca is a must-have if you want to get maximum LV heritage for your buck!

Pochette Coussin

Another hot new take on a popular design, The Pochette Coussin is the scaled-down version of one of 2021’s most covetable designs – the Louis Vuitton Coussin. Part of the house’s Pre-Fall 2021 collection, the new pochette version features the same Monogram embossed puffy lambskin and accordion style design split into three sections. The difference? The Pochette Coussin is sans the thick strap.

Instead, the bag features a thin removable chain which can be worn on the shoulder, round the waist as a belt or removed altogether so the bag can be carried as a clutch. The result? All of the Coussin’s appeal in LV’s popular pochette form!

LV Pont 9 Soft

If you’re looking for a preppy, compact, satchel style crossbody bag that’s easy to wear, your search is over! Meet the new LV Pont 9 Soft Bag. The structured bag features a flap opening adorned with the new LV Circle hardware. Distinct from the original LV Pont 9 Bag released last year, the soft version has rounded corners and a thick strap adorned with delicate Monogram flower motifs.

Louis Vuitton’s New Wave Collection features some of the house’s most sought-after bags. With their distinctive quilted leather finish and incorporation of vibrant hues, this collection of LV bags is not only popular but unmistakable.

The New Wave Chain Bag sports a functional chain and leather strap which, combined with the bag’s spacious interior, makes the style a go-to if you’re looking for practicality and style with a touch of LV modern flair.

Twist One Handle

The Twist Bag is a certified modern LV classic. But the Twist One Handle offers a larger, top handle version of the popular style. The bag incorporates the Twist’s staple features, like the iconic LV turn-lock and flap opening but in a trapezoid shape. This roomy top handle design is perfect as an elegant work bag and comes with a long strap for extra functionality.

Trianon

Speaking of elegant top handles, the Trianon is another favorite. New for Fall/Winter 2021, the striking design is inspired by Vuitton’s famous trunks. The structured Trianon sports LV’s signature S-lock closure and is trimmed with wooden and leather detailing for the full trunk effect. Its overall shape and structure remind us of a Kelly 20 Sellier – except after it’s been given the ultimate LV treatment!

New Favorite

One of the LV styles we’re most excited about right now is the new Favorite. An revised version of the beloved shoulder flap bag, the new Favorite is soon set to garner a fanbase of its own.

The design has been updated with a trunk style lock closure, pleats, Monogram Empreinte leather and an overall more rounded shape. Akin to the original, the new Favorite features both leather and chain straps. However, the new leather strap is removable and adjustable and the chain is of course chunky because it’s 2021 afterall!

Lockme Tender

Despite its petite size, the Lockme Tender packs a punch when it comes to versatility. In addition to its chain, the bag features an adjustable and removable strap with a different color on each side so you can switch up the color palette whenever you choose. There’s also an exterior pocket in a contrasting shade hidden beneath the flap opening for an extra pop of color.

Onthego

We love a modern LV classic. And the Onthego Tote is one of the best. Practicality is at the forefront of this design. It’s structured boxy shape, dual top handles and long strap all make it the perfect everything bag. It’s available in Monogram canvas, as well as Monogram Empreinte leather and has three size options, meaning there’s an Onthego Tote for everyone.

In 2021 we’ve seen the rise of structured rectangular top handle bags. Every big name in fashion seems to want in on this trend. But Louis Vuitton’s Sac Plat BB is one of the best on the market. Though not a new style, it is finding newfound popularity. It features a removable and adjustable strap and the bag’s utilitarian design makes it a standout choice.

Neverfull

Will the Neverfull never not be an LV classic? We sure hope not! As THE ultimate Louis Vuitton tote bag, the Neverfull’s advantages speak for themselves. It’s spacious (quite literally never full), practical and comes with a convenient detachable pouch. And considering its large size, it’s one of LV’s more affordable options.
