Question:

What do I do if I am not connecting with my Hermes SA?

Dear Feeling Disconnected,

This situation occurs more often than you might think. It is possible that your SA may be feeling the same way. Although it may be awkward at first, there is a solution. It is important that you enjoy shopping with your SA and you have a positive experience. Then everyone benefits. You have several options:

Visit the store on a day your SA is off and browse the store, listen and observe other SA’s and see if there is one or more you might enjoy working with. You can approach them when they are free and ask them if you can work with them.

Alternatively, you can speak to a manager and explain the situation and they will facilitate the change. Although it may feel uncomfortable the first time you work with a new SA in your home store, thereafter you will realize that you and your former SA will both be happier with the change.

Alternatively, you could call or visit your store and ask to speak with a manager or the director of your store, or get their email address if you prefer. Explain the situation without saying anything negative about your SA. Merely saying you do not have the best connection and could you be reassigned to another SA is sufficient. They will be more than happy to help you.

Remember, the philosophy at Hermes is to love the brand. They want you to have a good experience shopping, and to show your loyalty to the brand by shopping in the different departments (metiers) within the boutique. If you are happy, your SA will be happy. It is important for you to connect with your SA and to share your hopes and wishes, and your likes and dislikes, so they can fulfill your dreams. It is a mutual relationship. Your SA wants you to be happy, because happy customers shop more, which benefits everyone.

Question:

How do I decline “politely “ an Hermes bag? I feel like I must be thankful and accept whatever they are offering and accept, because if I don’t they would be mad and won’t offer anything, ever.

Dear No Thank you:

Your SA wants you to love and cherish every Hermes bag you purchase. They will not be mad at you for refusing a bag offer. They will be able to sell it to another person for sure.

Sometimes they are not able to fulfill the exact specifications on your wishlist but they want to offer you a bag. They offer you a bag they believe you may or may not be interested in adding to your collection. If you do not love the bag, you should not accept the bag.

Being honest with your SA is the best way to approach everything. Buying an Hermes bag is a large financial and emotional commitment. You should not buy a bag or any other item from Hermes that you do not truly love and want to use.

If you reject a bag, that is an opportunity for your SA to get to know your likes and dislikes better. You will be offered another bag. It may take awhile to get what you want, but it will be worth the wait.

Question:

Best crossbody purse?

Dear Crossbody Lover,

There are many, many options when considering a good crossbody bag at every luxury boutique. A crossbody bag allows for true hands free living, shopping, running errands, or traveling. Because the bag sits close to your body and is positioned across your opposite shoulder, it is more secure and worry free.

Here are just a few options from Hermes and Chanel. There are many more excellent choices as well. I urge you to check them all out before deciding on the best option for you. Please also refer to our articles which are linked below.

Hermes:

At Hermes, one of the easiest crossbody bag to wear, which also has the lowest price point, is the Evelyne bag which comes in 3 different sizes. All sizes are designed to be worn crossbody.

The Evelyne is made of Clemence leather, so it is not only durable, but also soft. It comes in many neutral and bright colors as well. It sits nicely against your body so it is very easy to wear.

The mini Evelyne or tpm is small so it will only fit your essentials. Most cell phones fit, as do a small card holder, and a key.

The medium and large sizes are considerably larger and will accomodate all your essentials and more.

Another option from Hermes is the Mini Constance (Constance 18). This is an excellent crossbody bag. It holds more than you might expect. A small wallet or card holder, phone and car key fit nicely inside. It is a very stylish bag that comes in many different colors and leathers.

The mini Lindy bag is another good option that is usually worn crossbody. This bag has quite a bit of interior space (especially for a “mini” bag), It is produced in many colors such as neutrals and pops of color, and different leathers.

Chanel:

The Wallet on a Chain (WOC) is a popular crossbody bag that is a great first Chanel bag, and an excellent evening bag. There are many different styles, leather, color, and designs to choose from each season.

In addition, the Mini Classic Flap, in rectangle or square, are  designed to be worn crossbody. They are both top choices for a Chanel crossbody bag because they are classic, timeless, retain their value, and actually hold as much or more than a small classic flap.

The Mini Classic Top Handle Flap bag has become very popular as well. It is extremely versatile because it can be worn crossbody or carried by the top handle. This versatility makes it an excellent bag to consider.

There are many more great Chanel crossbody bag choices at all price points to choose from. Several are described in detail in our articles linked below.

Question:

Why is my SA ghosting me? Everything was ok until I sent my wishlist.

Dear Been Ghosted:

Surprisingly, I have heard this same scenario lately from many existing customers. I wish I had a direct answer but unfortunately, I can only surmise. I am sure your SA does not intend to “ghost” you. They are extremely busy with in-store clients and trying to answer the numerous texts they receive on a daily basis. I am sure it has nothing to do with the fact that you texted them your wish list. It is likely that they do not have a bag in stock that meets your request so they are waiting until they have something they think you would like.

The boutiques have become so much busier since the Pandemic has eased. There are many more customers shopping in person which makes it difficult for your SA to find time to respond to the texts they receive daily.

The SA’s are working harder than ever before, dealing with many requests for items, low inventory and stock, few deliveries, and increased demand. Your SA does not intend to ghost you.

Be patient. Text your SA once a week or once every two weeks, and acknowledge that you understand they are busy. If they still do not respond, consider contacting the manager and asking if everything is ok with your SA. There may be a very good reason your SA is unable to respond to your request. They may be on vacation, or medical leave, or their phone is being repaired. There are many possibilities. Do not give up.

Just remember to be polite, be patient, and understand that all the SA’s are working harder than ever to satisfy everyone’s requests.  Good luck.
