Chloé’s Newest Hit: The Nile Bag

In the past few years, Chloé has designed a number of trendy bags with serious staying power (think the Drew and the Faye). Another design has now earned a place on this list: the Chloé Nile. Just this week, the Nile was listed as one of Business Insider’s “most popular bags of the summer.”

History and Specs

Debuted in the French maison’s Spring 2017 collection and designed with an equestrian allure, the Chloé Nile bag has since taken the fashion world by storm. It’s been spotted on celebrities and has, in a short period of time, become scarce: the bag is largely sold out in stores and online. You can still snatch it up at certain department stores and, of course, the Chloé boutique, but many styles are hard to come by. The color/size combination you desire may require a hunt or time on a waitlist…so yes, this bag is big!

The flap bag’s most notable component is, naturally, its large bracelet top-handle. The Nile also features a magnetic snap closure, gold-toned hardware, and an internal slip pocket. With an adjustable and removable leather strap, all Niles can be worn long-shoulder, cross-body, or in the hand (via the bracelet).

The Nile comes in three sizes: minaudière, small, and regular. Minaudière is the smallest of the three and has a very different shape from its counterparts; it looks like a tiny half-moon. As the brand puts it, the minaudière is a “compact evening bag.” The other two sizes resemble the typical Chloé saddle shape (think the Chloé Marcie crossbody). Both are versatile and transition easily from day to night. The most popular style for the Nile is smooth calfskin, but it comes in various colors and textures including metallic leather and patchwork grained leather.
